You can easily fall in love at Wrea Head Hall.
In the quiet moments, you'll be thinking of your time here. You'll need real tenacity not to plan your next escape here.
Wrea Head Hall luxury country house hotel is not part of a chain. We're independently owned and we aim to get every detail right, but we don't airbrush away character. It's those small charms that will likely capture your heart. Prepare to fall in love again, with the person you are with (even if that's yourself) and with Wrea Head Hall.
Award Winning Experience
What's so special? It's a thousand things, but it could be our attentive team for whom nothing is too much trouble. Or the chorizo and beetroot starter. The reasonable prices at the bar.
Special moments float past like clouds. Enjoy cocktails on the terrace to the sounds of a cricket match. Pull beautiful garden blooms to your nose. Gasp over breakfast at the innocent beauty of young deer gambolling past the window.
Relax in the quiet. There are no kids here, sorry (not sorry). Owners Mark & Gerry (you may well meet them) have travelled the world, staying in the best hotels. They know what works.
Recharge. Re-centre. Remember yourself. Rediscover each other.
Whether you fancy a four-poster bed or a roll-top-bath in your room, the answer is yes. Exceptionally quiet? Try the Tower Room. If you would like views of the countryside, the Ellis Suite is for you.
Treat yourself. Either choose your favourite room and then find a date, or if the date's important, check which rooms are available (just don't leave booking too late).
Wrea Head Hall is an elegant Yorkshire hotel set in acres of landscaped grounds in the village of Scalby on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It's a stunning Gothic mansion, built in 1881, with uninterrupted views across the North Yorkshire countryside.
We've invested and modernised (especially the plumbing) but it still feels like a historic country house .. you'll still smell the polished wood panelling. And we added one of the best restaurants in Scarborough that serves delicious contemporary British cuisine and gives us our focus: dinner, bed and breakfast.
Settle in the hallway, lose yourself in a book as your surroundings are lit by kaleidoscopic sunlight pouring through the double height stained glass window. In colder months, warm yourself around the fire with flickering candles and brandy.
You'll be close enough to Scarborough to enjoy a perfect view of Scarborough Castle from the lawn and perhaps from your room, but you're away from the bustle and you're nearer to the many characterful towns and villages along Yorkshire's heritage coastline, the purple heather moors with special steam train surprises, Whitby, Castle Howard, Dalby Forest, and the market and minster towns in England's most beautiful county.
Go out for the day or just relax with us.
Does your partner deserve a surprise break for their birthday? When is your wedding anniversary? Many hard working professionals come here solo: eat, sleep, read .. and leave refreshed. You deserve this and you need it .. a body, brain and soul needs downtime to maintain momentum, creativity and spark.
Get your diary and book in. This could be your new favourite thing.
